Our faculty teach, research, and write in a diverse array of fields and forms. We invite students to explore with us the craft of writing; practices of folklore; histories and practices of rhetoric; and local, national, transnational, and Indigenous literatures.
Our faculty publish creative and scholarly work about authors such as John Milton, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Charles Chestnut, Toni Morrison, Joy Harjo, and Hannah Cowley. We write about folk pottery, email, Anglo-Saxon cryptographs, archives, Native identity in the U.S. South, medieval mirabilia, animism and trauma, Black women’s humor, and Chinese writing technologies and more.
The Writing Studio
The Writing Studio is an on-campus tutoring and teaching site serving Georgia State students from all majors. The Studio also serves as an active academic research site for our graduate students pursuing theses in writing center strategies and pedagogy.
English students read widely and deeply, explore culture through language and literature and learn to express themselves fully.
