Mainz Exchange Program
Welcome to Georgia State’s Mainz Exchange Program with Johannes-Gutenberg Universität
The Department of English at Georgia State University and the American Studies Department at Johannes-Gutenberg Universität, Mainz, Germany exchange undergraduate and graduate students as well as faculty members on an annual basis (October – July). Although students from all fields are encouraged to apply for 2 semesters of studies in Mainz, English majors are preferred. At Johannes-Gutenberg Universität, all classes in the American Studies and English Departments are conducted in English. More than 20 students and faculty have participated in the Mainz-Atlanta Exchange since its inception in 1989.
Eligibility
The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet all academic requirements of the Georgia State College of Arts & Sciences. English majors are preferred, but any student in the college can apply. Program size is limited and participation is contingent upon acceptance by the Program Director.

Exchange Program with the University of Toulouse
Welcome to Georgia State’s Exchange Program with the University of Toulouse
There are now many exchange and study abroad programs to select from at Georgia State. Our reciprocal exchange program for undergraduate and graduate students at the Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès gives students the opportunity to experience French culture and study French language, history and civilization while taking classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels in American and British literature, history and culture. Students with advanced language competencies may elect to take courses conducted in French in other disciplines.
Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès
The Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès is located in Toulouse, the third largest city in France. The university is a leading institution dedicated to multidisciplinary research and is, like Georgia State, committed to international programs and exchanges. Eligibility
The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet all academic requirements of the Georgia State College of Arts & Sciences. The minimum requirements are a 2.5 GPA, 6-12 hours of French and a recommendation from someone in the student’s major. Graduate students must have a 3.0 GPA, complete one year of study at Georgia State and demonstrate sufficient language skills. Program size is limited and participation is contingent upon acceptance by the Program Director.
- International students at Georgia State who hold F-1 visas must contact the Office of International Students and Scholar Services at (404) 413-2070 to discuss possible implications of study abroad for their immigration status. AccommodationsThe Université Toulouse Jean Jaurès offers apartment-style living comparable to the Georgia State Commons both on-campus and in the city. Students may consult the university web site for details on housing and will receive more information about housing upon admission.
